In a draft of the FY 2015 Agriculture Appropriations bill, there is language (known as a Rider) that once again prohibits GIPSA from enforcing the Packers and Stockyards Act by prohibiting the Secretary of Agriculture from implementing the GIPSA rules. For a number of years, KCA has advocated for enforcement of the Packers and Stockyards Act and supports making it illegal and punishable for packers to retaliate against independent producers.

Kansas Congressman Kevin Yoder is the Vice-Chair of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture, and this bill may come to a vote as early as tomorrow.

Please call Congressman Yoder at 202-225-2865 and ask him to strike the GIPSA Rider from the Agriculture Appropriations Bill.

This is a chance for you to make a difference.
