(This session is restricted to KCA Members and invited experts)

Join us as members review ​current KCA policy and draft potential policy pertaining to: Animal Health & Welfare, Rural Rights & Economic Development, Marketing & Trade, Country of Origin Labeling, Kansas Cattlemen’s Beef Cooperative, Beef Checkoff, and more.

Addressing Mental Health with Brian Hastings

Farmers and ranchers are at increased risk of mental health issues and suicide. This seminar will explore tools to help identify a possible person in crisis. It will also cover the many resources available for help and assistance.

Nutritional Factors Contributing to Better Efficiency in your Cow/Calf Herd

Proper awareness of animal nutrition increases feed efficiency and reduces cost of gain. Balancing rations, in appropriate proportions, can be difficult. There are tools you can apply to your operation to help better manage herd nutrition and feed stuffs.

Plants Mimicking Beef - What is it, really?

Sam Davis, KSU Graduate Student and KSU Meat Judging team coach, will lead a discussion on alternative protein products. He will share the latest in his research of these products at Kansas State University. Davis's field of study at KSU is in Meat Science. He will graduate in May 2021 with his Masters.

Beef Checkoff Panel

The Beef Checkoff can be one of the most critical discussions cattle producers have with one-another. KCA will host a panel of cattle producers to discuss the Beef Checkoff program, explain some of the features built into the program, and analyze what is working and what could use improvement. The open forum will help to build understanding of the program, in addition to providing a balanced platform for open dialogue.

Livestock Handling & Husbandry with Dr. Tom Noffsinger

Dr. Tom Noffsinger, expert stockman, will update attendees on his latest animal husbandry research and applications. Dr. Tom has over three decades of experience in beef cattle practice and is now an independent feedlot consultant specializing in facility design, stockmanship, and low-stress livestock handling. His seminar provides practical solutions that can be implemented the moment producer's boots hit the ground back at the ranch.
